Topple Khartoum?

A rebel leader (Khalil Ibrahim), who has recently returned to Darfur from Libya, announced his plans to topple the Sudanese government. He claims many rebels groups are teaming up and forming alliances. The Justice and Equality Movement is a rebel group that rose in 2003, fighting against the Arab-dominated government in Khartoum. His return concerns the UN and the AU, this could increase violence in the recovering and ravished Darfur region. Ibrahim claims the violence in Darfur is still occurring on a massive scale...

"In the last few days, dozens of water wells have been destroyed and numerous farms burned and civilians killed in all three Darfur states, while government militias target women and children, and sexual violence and rape continue in the camps for displaced people."

Ibrahim's movement has been fighting with SPLM-North. He has accused the government of failing Darfur in every way and seeks to continue to fight until the issue is resolved. It seems hardly possible that fighting in Darfur is even an option. This violence is absolutely exhausting and tragic.
